Sonora and its surrounding historical towns offer a variety of historical sites, museums, dining, unique shops, lodging, camping and just about anything you will need to make your trip enjoyable.

The town of Sonora has a rich history dating back to the gold rush period. It can be best experienced at the Columbia State Historic Park and Railtown 1897 State Historic Park. Sonora and its surrounding historical towns offer a variety of historical sites, museums, dining, unique shops, lodging, camping, just about everything you will need to compliment your visit to the Gold Country.

The town of Columbia reached a population of 40,000 at it’s peak Today it is preserved as a Historic State Park with many of the original brick buildings constructed after the fire of 1854. Visitors to the park enjoy a trip back in time with many historic attractions; including a Blacksmith's Shop, several saloons, numerous small shops, museums and historical displays.

Located in Jamestown , Railtown 1897 State Historic Park is home to the Historic Sierra Railroad Shops and Roundhouse. The Interpretive Center and the Depot Store are among the Park's unique exhibits.
