Located in Jamestown, Railtown 1897 State Historic Park is home to one of America’s last authentic, operating railroad roundhouses. Known as “The Movie Railroad,” Railtown’s locomotives and cars have appeared in over 200 film and TV productions. Tours of the Historic Jamestown Shops and Roundhouse are available daily. Weekends April-October (plus selected weekends November-December), ride behind a real steam locomotive.

Open daily (April-October, 9:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.; November-March, 10 a.m.- 3 p.m.) except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day, Railtown 1897 State Historic Park is operated by California State Parks with assistance from the nonprofit California State Railroad Museum Foundation.
